Coyt Nicholson is the passionate founder and director of the LAK Lugnuts. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, Coyt developed a love for sports early on, which inspired him to establish an organization that provides young athletes with opportunities to grow both on and off the field. His dedication to the community and commitment to youth development have made a significant impact in the region.
When not on the field, Coyt enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Ambrey, and their two children, Micah and Kylen. They are proud to call Baton Rouge their home, where they actively participate in local events and contribute to various youth initiatives.
Graduate of Woodlawn High School (C/O 2001)

Played baseball at University of Louisiana at Monroe (2003-2005)
I was around this organization since pre-lugnuts days with the River Cats and Louisiana Pirates teams when Ryan Frith was the head coach. I came back over to the Lugnuts organization when it was just one older team (helped Coach Coyt coach the 13-14u Majors teams) in 2009. I have been active to some capacity since then with different roles within the organizations. I coached my boys from 8u-14u with the Lugnuts organization. Within my tenure within the organization, we have produced many high school baseball players as well as several college players. The goal as a youth coach is to prepare the boys to play at the next level, which would be the HS level, and we have been very successful in doing so. My final two years coaching 14u, we have players at Central High School, Parkview High School, Episcopal, Dunham, Denham Springs, Catholic. I have chosen to stay active with this organization, and this youth organization because of the focus on development and the focus on creating relationships with the coaches at the next level to know what they are looking for. Once the boys get to HS, the coaches don't really care who you played for, but they do want to make sure you know the game. The Louisiana Lugnuts organization does a phenomenal job of making sure they boys have the skill set, baseball IQ, and knowledge to succeed at the next level. We don't just focus on the baseball aspect of development, but also helping develop these boys into young successful men in the community. Here it's more than baseball and we live that motto each and every day.
